Sig C Met Operations

Circled is the Sig C Met staging facilities for tests of CBR warfare agents on the grids. The Signal Corp Meteorologists arrived at Dugway in 1953. Their arrival contributed greatly to the safety of test personal and the surrounding communities in Utah. Micrometeorology provided by the Sig Met Team validated whatever worthwhile data was derived from the testing, upgrading the results from simply spewing agents into the air to a modicum of scientific evaluation.

Sig C Met vans at warehouse

During the years of atmospheric tests the above photo would be akin to an aerial view of Area 51 and intrusions there were met just as harshly.

Met vans at the Dog Area facility ready to roll out to the test grids or other parts of the country when taking part in the big downwind tests that the DOA initiated. Some of the Sig Met vans were parked at the heavily used grids such as Target "V" due to the amount of travel time and the necessary instrumentation and portable generator hookups.
