I was one of a group of twelve or so that were exposed to GB gas
via artillery fired at a test site containing live animals. These tests were remotely
viewed via cameras installed inside the impact area bunkers and tanks. Our job was to
remove dead animals to the dump site and repair the site for the next demonstration which
occurred every Thursday at noon. Only a few of us had gas masks and none of us were given
protective clothing. The only reason any of us had masks was because we physically broke
into the locked supply room and took them without authorization. Those who were too scared
to take one went to the site without one. It was so common to go to the site without
anything but a gas mask that we didn't know we were supposed to have anything other than
that.
Immediately afterwards we were separated and weren't allowed to
talk about it to each other or anyone else. I have no idea what happened to the others,
except one that lives in my hometown coincidentally, but is afraid to use his army records
to locate any of those that may be alive. He is nomadic by nature and hard to stay in
contact with. If I can get in contact with him I feel that he will want to help if he
knows there is someone other than the two of us.
The experience of personal and civil abuses we had to endure as
a result of this incident have been with me for almost thirty years and as I live in
constant pain from a series of ailments 24 hours a day, I will gladly tell anyone that is
seriously interested simply that the TRUTH be known.
I will be available twenty four hours a day for any assistance I
may be able to provide. If ANYONE knows some of the guys who were there with me and got
exposed please e-mail me. I would like to know if they are still alive and if so, what
their illnesses are as compared to mine.
