Colonel Rick Weiner,
Chemical Corps Officer, U.S. Army, serves as the Battelle Program
Managers for the Edgewood office.
Colonel Weiner served as the Force Integration
Officer for the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and Plans. He was
responsible for completing the requirements analysis for the M40
protective mask, fielding the chemical-agent monitor and M8A1 alarm,
and obtaining approval for the Fox vehicle. He also served as the
project officer for Operation Rock Ready.
In his position with the Battelle Corporation,
he led the Gallant Fox exercises, incorporating all aspects of weapons
of mass destruction into a series of exercises at the Pentagon and
surrounding areas. |

With degrees in microbiology from the University
of Texas at Austin and systems management from the University of
Southern California,
Colonel Weiner has more than 26 years of military service. Colonel Weiner was the
Commander of the U.S. Army Environmental Center (USAEC) in Aberdeen
Proving Ground, Maryland, for two years. Other key assignments
included the Director of Training at the U.S. Army Chemical School and
the Commander, 2nd Chemical Battalion at Fort Hood, Texas.
As Commander, USAEC,
Colonel Weiner directed
the activities of environmental specialists in the support of the Army
Headquarters, major commands, installations, soldiers, and their
families. The Center is a leader in fulfilling the Army’s
Environmental Vision of “Sustaining Readiness, Improving Soldiers’
Quality of Life, Strengthening Community Relationships and Providing
Sound Stewardship of Resources.” Areas of expertise included
preventing pollution, maintaining training areas while protecting
natural resources, complying with environmental laws and regulations,
cleaning and restoring contaminated areas, and sustaining the
environmental ethic.
Colonel Weiner is an example of the positive
impact retired Dragon Soldiers can make in their communities and the
Corps. His contributions to training, research, and environmental
concerns deem him worthy of selection as a Distinguished Member of the
Corps.
